Speed Control and Nickel Chute Option
With the extra mass of the nickel coin, it is sometimes helpful to slow down the feed rate of the coins, allowing them slightly more time to pass through the coin sensor. This optional part is helpful, especially in Canada where people are sorting for nickels through 1981, when they were made with pure nickel, and not an alloy of nickel like the US (75%/25% Copper/Nickel ratio) This is a factory installed item.
The Ryedale Sorter™ does a great job at picking these old Canadian nickels out of the mixture. But at this point, there is really no need to sort nickels in the US. The Ryedale Sorter™ does not do a good job looking/sorting for silver alloy "War Nickels" in the US.
